This is a spicy, sweet tomato soup.
Ingredients
5-6 large ripe Tomatoes
Garlic-ginger paste (4-5 garlic cloves & 1 tsp grated ginger)
8-10 Kadhi patta
1 tbsp fresh green coriander (chopped)
A pinch of hing
2 tbsp besan
Salt as per taste
2 tbsp Sugar/ jaggery or as per taste
2-3 tbsp Pure ghee
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp black peppercorn
1 tsp Jeera
Method
1) Wash and roughly chop tomatoes, transfer it to a Patila, add salt & 4 cups of water
and bring it to a boil. Simmer for ten-fifteen minutes and puree when it cools. Strain
puree to remove any seeds or tomato skin.
2) Heat ghee in a thick bottom pan, add jeera and peppercorns. When peppercorns
start to crackle, add ginger-garlic paste, Hing and kadhi patta.
3) On a low heat, add besan & sauté for a minute. Add red chilli powder & sauté for 1
minute or till besan gives an aroma.
4) Add pureed tomatoes, keep stirring to avoid forming lumps of besan, then add
gud/jaggery & bring it to a boil.
5) Cook on a low heat for ten minutes, add coriander.
6) Serve hot with rice.
