Pithale-Bhakari is a basic but yummy Maharashtrian meal.
Serves 3-4 persons
Ingredients
1 cup Besan
2-3 Garlic cloves (peeled & chopped)
2-3 fresh green chillies (chopped)
1 medium size onion (chopped)
1/4 cup chopped fresh green coriander
1/4 cup oil
2 tsp red chilli powder or as per taste
Salt as per taste
Method
1) Mix besan in 2/3 cups water & make a smooth paste.(For a tangy flavour use buttermilk instead of water.)
2) Heat oil in a kadai on a medium flame and add rai. When it starts to crackle, add hing powder, haldi powder, green chillies and garlic. Stir-fry for a minute.
3) Add onion & stir-fry till it turns translucent. Add salt and red chilli powder. Stir-fry for a minute. Lower the heat.
4) Add besan paste. Mix and cover the kadai. Stir 3-4 times.
5) Cook till besan is done .( Shouldn't take more than 5-6 minutes)
6) Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
