This Indian Bread is the staple diet of rural Maharashtra. Unlike the Paratha or Roti, it is not soft but a firm bread. Enjoy it with chutney, pickle or curry.
Quantity 6-8 Bhakari
Ingredients
3 cups Bajara or jawari flour
1/8 tsp salt
Warm water
1 cup Bajara flour to sprinkle
Method
1) Add salt to Bajra flour & knead into smooth dough using warm water.
2) Divide the dough & make 6-8 round balls.
3) Sprinkle some flour on a woodden board or any flat surface. Dip one of the ball into the flour, place it on the surface & pat the ball with your palm.Keep flattening in a circular motion to make a round shape like chapatis.
4) Heat a tawa to moderation , place the bhakari on the tawa.Sprinkle some water on the surface of the bhakari & spread it.
5) Flip & roast the other side.
6) Hold(with the help of tongs & Metal spatula) on direct flame,keep rotating to avoid burning & roast both sides.
7) Repeat the process till all dough is used.
8) Apply 1 teaspoon butter to each Bhakari
9) Serve hot with butter & Zunaka.
